Jennifer Neal Bruning was born and raised in the small town of LaVernia, Texas. Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics at the University of Texas in 2003 and was a paralegal for over ten years before entering St. Mary’s School of Law in 2012. Jennifer graduated from St. Mary’s in 2016, magna cum laude, and was inducted into the John M. Harlan Society—an honorary organization that recognizes students who excelled academically and graduated in the top ten percent of their class.
During law school, Jennifer clerked for Watts Guerra and interned for the Honorable Edward C. Prado of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Justice Marialyn Barnard of the Texas Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio. Jennifer was awarded several accolades during her academic career, including Best Brief of the Linda and Dave Schlueter First Year Moot Court Competition, the Chief Justice (Ret.) Catherine Stone “Rock of Justice” Award, Dean’s Law Scholarships, Academic Excellence Scholarships, and Dean’s List.
Jennifer is married to her husband, Ben Bruning. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with their Dogue de Bordeaux, Stewie.
